Motorbikes for normal road use has the first gear pushing down the gear shift lever, racing motorbikes has the first gear lifting up the gear shift lever and all the other gears pushing down the gear shift lever. Most of racing motorbikes, thanks to the electronics, allow you to change gear without using the clutch.
On racing motorbikes, where it is important to gain even the thousandth of a second, there are special devices, as for example electronic gearboxes, that assist the pilot during gearshift. The sensors of this system are mounted on the gear lever that, when passing from one gear to another, take off power to the engine for about three hundredths of a second, allowing the gears to engage.
